1999 Fichet Borgogne Blanc

One of my favorite regional white Burgundies was the 2000 version, and it was about 15-16 bucks. I just got a hold of the 99, for only 12 bucks and it was great. It definitely showed some age on it, had a nice richness. I don’t know how much longer it has in it, but it is a great wine to introduce yourself to the wonder that is aged white Burgundy.

I also ate it with the perfect food match: an omelete with sauteed morel and chantrelle mushrooms. The richness of the eggs and the mushrooms was incredible; I could eat that mushroom omelet and drink white Burgundy until the day I die.

If you have the cash, try some of his village burgundies: his Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet are incredible. Soooo rich and a great looong finish.
