2004 CDP

The 2003 Chateauneuf-du-Pape(s) I have tasted are all super pruney and not my cup of tea. I profess gross ignorance to most CDPs; I haven’t really drank a great one or a really good one actually.

The 2004s, however, are a great example of a more typical, classic vintage. I am enjoying a ridiculously low-priced one(about $22 retail):

2004 Ogier Caves Des Papes Reserve des Argentiers

It has a wonderful grenache-y nose and some nice grip on the finish that blows off after being open for about an hour. As an astute wine steward (not me) commented: “This is a great food wine.”

A couple thoughts and I welcome any comments. Is this the same Ogier family of Cote-Rotie fame? And for bonus points, what song contains the phrase, “Like a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape…”?
