This may be the finest Champagne I have ever had. The best part about it was that is was NOT cold. It was cooler than room temperature. You could really taste this Champagne at that temperature; if it is iced down, you get nothing but bubbles. Champagne truly is one of the finest wines in the world. I’m not into crazy old champers; I like the freshness and acidity of vintage champers at about 10 to 15 years at the most.
Bolly is also the champers of James Bond. But not From Russia With Love James Bond.
There is also an incredible quote from Madame Jacques Bollinger about her Champagne:
“I drink it when I’m happy and when I’m sad. Sometimes I drink it when I’m alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I’m not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it – unless I am thirsty.”
I tried the 1997 Grand Annee on the weekend….super wine…tried in the company of ’98 Dom Perignon, ’96 La Grand Dame, Krug MV…very impressed
Cheers
