Sometimes I get a free bottle of wine and I look at it and think, “Is it crap and that’s why I’m getting it? Or might I be surprised?”

Chalk this one up to a pleasant surprise; I thought it had some potential.

2002 Ross Estate Semillon Barossa Valley (Unwooded)

This wine is showing very well; still very fresh and clean. Would be a great seafood wine; I’d love to try this wine with a little bit of old wood on it, like a Bordeaux. The best white wine I have had from Australia was a Tyrrell’s Semillon; it had incredible richness and was a 1997…fresh as a daisy.
