I haven’t really been drinking a lot of Rioja, but I just had a 2002 Ostatu Rioja Crianza Alavesa. A very earthy, smoky, old-school Rioja. It is certainly not oxidized and would make a great food wine. Another winner from DeMaison Selections. They also have a kick-ass logo that I will post.
Oh, and something about Spanish wines (and I’m also thinking about the 2003 La Planella big time) is that they are so LUSTY. The richness and mouthfeel (ooh) they have is just incredible.

Rioja? I have never drank much of this wine neither, but I really enjoy it. One of the best denominations in Spain. Generaly worth considering.
