I was in Las Vegas for a bachelor party and dining at mediocre restaurants. I figured that the massive buying power at the casinos would give me some sweet wine deals, even at a crap restaurant. Like at Disney when I got a Condrieu for under $40 on a restaurant wine list.
Not in Vegas. The most egregious was a Berenger White Zinfandel. FOR 30 DOLLARS.
Unbelievable. That is a bottle that costs the casino 3 dollars.
I did end up picking a 2002 Whitehall Lane Merlot for 42 bucks, which was certainly adequate.
“The civilized life is the upscale life.” I think the Wine Spectator sells that. It doesn’t matter how good the wine is only how expensive it is.
hmm, really makes you realize how cheap those $20 lap-dances were… relatively.
I think the official wine of Las Vegas is the margarita.
