Sancerre

I am firmly back to the Loire and rather than having Chenin Blanc, I have been on a big Sancerre kick. This is Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire.

Right now I am drinking a Sancerre by Henri Bourgeois and it is classic. A little bit of a musty odor and some richness. It wasn’t cheap, but most Sancerres are not..usually around 15 bucks and this one retails pushing 30. It was great with an egg sandwich that also had some soft, mild Italian cheese and some mayo.

The vineyard is Chavignol…that and Les Monts Damnes are ones to look for, if you want to get nerdy.
