South African Wine

We had a tasting of some reds and whites and I was quite impressed. Sauvignon Blanc has mega-acidity (and sometimes not much else, but I like the style). They are very uniquely South African. Worth trying and under 10 bucks. Great food wine: salad, shellfish. More impressed with Chenin Blanc. They have more CB vineyards in SA that in the Loire! Tasted a wonderful, under $10 summer sipper that was a real pleasure. And the color they use on the label is really pretty, would like nice sitting on a table in the out-of-doors.

For great value Chenin Blanc try Teddy Hall Chenin Blanc. The winemaker has attained Super Chenin status in SA which means he has won the Chenin Blanc challenge more than three times already. He also beat the pants off the Loire producers. Check it out on http://www.teddyhall.com. His blockbuster Chenins are called Robusto and Rudera, the farm name is Rudera.
