From what I can remember. Dinner at friends apartment, about a dozen people, mostly food/wine industry people.
L-P Ultra Brut. Zero dosage, super racy.
Corked! Fuck! This was the second corked champers. I had been dreaming about a glass (ok, a bottle all to myself) of this all fucking day at work. I sucked down a glass before someone pointed out to me it was corked.
1997 L-P Brut. Soothed the bummer of the corked L-P UB. Fantastic.
1999 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er cru. Don’t remember the producer, but it was pretty rich for SLB and still had a long way to go. I stuck to this until the bottle was killed.
2000 Bugey (magnum). Fantastic! Never had a dry, still Bugey. Everything is better when it’s in a magnum-force bottle.
1988 Cahors. Holy shit! Still pretty fresh. Very nice, like a mature Bordeaux.
Then I switched to booze. Drank a couple killer negronis, served in proper martini glasses that did not hold ten gallons of liquid and get warm by the time you are choking down the last few ounces.
Belly full of brined turkey, lentil salad, salad, mashers, brussel sprout casserole w/ lots of cream and pancetta. Pumpkin and pecan pie w/ for reals whipped cream. Oh, started with persimmons and thin-sliced ham baked in the oven w/ 10yr balsamic. Yum!
1/2 hour walk home uphill.
