I spent a delightfully relaxing weekend at a friend’s home in Mattituck on the North Fork of Long Island over Memorial Day weekend. Naturally, there was wine. Here are few highlights in the form of a white, a rosé, and a red wine.

Paumanok Vineyards Chenin Blanc 2016

The afternoon we arrived coincided with the release of the 2016 vintage. How serendipitous! Enjoyed a refreshing bottle on the patio with vineyard views. This is a wine to have on hand by the case.

Bridge Lane Rosé 2016

Bridge Lane is the second label of Lieb Cellars. (Full disclosure, my friend works there.) As you can see by the label of this rosé, it comes not only in a bottle but also a 3L box and a keg. This Cabernet Franc-based rosé belongs in your fridge all summer long. Get a 3L and be a demigod when you show up at parties. (Note: we enjoyed this bottle at the Lieb Cellars tasting room under a covered tent.)

Harbes Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2014

Monday was a bit rainy and gloomy, so we chilled out in the serenity of Harbes’ Wine Barn, a 100 year-old potato barn (!). This Cab Franc was a little too oaky for me, but was a very nice red to drink solo while relaxing in a wing-back chair. (Naturally, I first typed “wine-back chair” which I kind of like.)
