For Easter I had a big white wine extravaganza.
2003 Poet’s Leap Riesling (WA)
2002 Fichet Borgogne Blanc (FR)
2002 Eyrie Pinot Gris (OR)
The Washington State Riesling was pretty decent. A little bit of residual sugar, OK acidity. Very easy drinking but for 20 bucks I would just but a German riesling in the future.
The Fichet Chardonnay was the bomb. Pretty pricey (28 bucks) but this is an incredible Chardonnay. Blows away all Cali chards at double the price. His Mersault and Puligny are also awesome, but this is a killer bottle for the price.
Both these wines were great with deviled eggs, I might add.
Last the Eyrie. I think this is the best white wine made in America, and it’s under 15 bucks. Check it out.
