Wines for Sultry Weather

Good lord, it’s like 95 degrees and humid in Seattle. This is the kind of weather that sent me running from Chicago. Sitting in my kiln of an apartment, I cannot imagine drinking red wine.*

What you need are low alcohol, crisp, unoaked wines. Like Whidbey Island Whites! I drank some of the Siegerrebe and I am continually charmed by these wines. It’s about as local as you can possibly drink here in Seattle. The Island White is great, too. Right now I have the Madeline Angevine, which is dry. The other two have a touch of sweetness that is lovely. And the nose of the Siegerrebe is oh-so-pretty; what a lovely wine.

Click on the title of this post for more info. Whidbey Island Winery is also a lovely, idyllic place to visit. The vineyards and the people are as charming as the wine.

*Ok, maybe a Cru Beaujolais.
