WWCA

Wow, it’s true. Washington Wines Can Age (WWCA)!

Last night I had two wines that proved WWCA and I was quite impressed. The first was a 1999 Cayuse Syrah (might have been the En Chambertin); it actually tasted like a syrah and was downright Rhone-y. Very elegant with a nice gaminess. I had a 2003 about 4 months ago and was not impressed; I guess these wines just need some time to come together. These vines were probably only a couple years old to boot; very impressive achievement for young vines.

Next up was a 1994 Woodward Canyon Artist Series Cab. It was drinking very nice; it didn’t blow me away with complexity, but was quite good and not dead/fading.

And The 2002 Baumard Clos du Papillion is awesome. Hooray for Chenin! So is the 2003 Zenato Lugana Reserve; I think this is the best 2003 white I have had.
