A Visit from Van Duzer

Had a guy from Van Duzer stop by to pour some wines for me. I really like the Pinot Gris. The problem with Oregon (and Alsatian) Pinot Gris is that you never know if it’s going to be dry or a bit sweet until you taste it. This version is dry and not as heavy as a lot of its counterparts.

The two Pinots I tried were good but, like a lot of Oregon Pinot Noir, I ended up liking the “regular” estate bottling more than the Flagpole block. Sometimes Oregon has this single vineyard mania when blending from different sites actually produces a better wine at a better price. Seek out the estate bottling; it’s very elegant.

And I’m slowly warming up to the label.
