If you’ve been a faithful reader of this blog, there is one thing you know without a shadow of a doubt: I am a staunch defender of the Champagne flute as my preferred vessel for sparkling wine enjoyment. Wait, you didn’t know that? OK, we can rectify that later.

But first I want to give a shout out to my super pal, Jessie Moore. She’s the creator of the irresistible blog, CakeSpy. I really admire her because she’s smart, creative, prolific, determined, and wholly original. And while she’s certainly sweet (DUH) she’s also one tough cookie.

When I started thinking about someone who could illustrate my love for the Champagne flute, it didn’t take much sleuthing to figure out that Jessie was the perfect choice. And I am thrilled with the results.

Did you know this is not the first time Jessie has been on my blog? Well we collaborated on Super Bowl Sundae a few years ago. And we won. AT LIFE! More recently she was a guest on my podcast. It was a powerhouse episode starting with Natalie Slater of Bake and Destroy. After my conversation with Natalie regarding the video game BurgerTime and the sad state of the portobello mushroom “burger”, Jessie and I discuss Nanaimo bars, Madeira, and Katharine Hepburn’s brownies. I love flutes too, though I have to admit a general love for stemware. I recently did a champagne dinner and gave each guest flutes, coupes and white wine glasses so we could taste each wine in different vessels. It was a fun exercise and there were noticeable differences.

  3. Thirty years ago, I trekked through Austria and unlike other people who had extra socks, additional layers, etc. in their backpack. I had 4 Baccarat champagne flutes that I bought in Vienna. Just drank out of them last weekend for a celebration with friends. Could not imagine my life without them. Flute on!

  4. What a fun blog post. Love it when food bloggers support and encourage each other. It’s great to have “sisters in the kitchen.” 🙂

Champagne flutes rock! I can’t stand those shallow wide champagne glasses. With those if you move a muscle it’s all over the place.

  6. That champagne post was actually my introduction to your blog! And wow, she is super talented, that drawing is fantastic.

  7. Patty Gale says:

I love my champagne flutes! To me, they are so elegant. This got me thinking… I really need to use them more often. Great illustration!

  8. So cute! -brushes plastic ones under the rug- #winenewbie

  9. That illustration is adorable. I want to pinch those little rosy flute cheeks.
