Hooray for Vouvray!!!

I finally had a 2003 Vouvray by an incredible producer, Pichot. I was a little worried b/c it was so hot in the Loire in summer 03 that it was boiling!!! So I think low acidity and incredible concentration. Well, this wine was incredibly concentrated and flavor-packed. Explosive! And then, a kiss of sweetness. It [More]

Fichet From the X-Purt

Here’s Jancis Robinson talking about the 2003 Fichet Borgogne Blanc: “There are many flabby, boring white 2003s, some of which could easily be taken for New World Chardonnays, but Fichet’s stand out for their clarity and depth of flavour – and could not possibly be anything other than good white burgundy – indeed they broadcast [More]

Pricey Washington Syrah

The Key Wine

I’ve always loved this Spanish Tempranillo by Finca Antigua. I call it “The Key Wine” because there is a picture of a key on the label. (Pretty clever, huh?) I was at Tango last night for 1/2 price wine night and the woman I was with said she wanted to drink a dry red. So [More]
