Which wine is better suited for cold weather: red wine or white wine?

I’ve been answering wine queries on the question and answer site Quora. I’ll share some of the most interesting questions I’ve been asked and, of course, my answers. I limit myself to spending a couple minutes on each response, not doing any research or “cheating.” I rely on my experience and opinion, which is probably not a bad way handle most things.

Question: Which wine is better suited for cold weather: red wine or white wine?

If you are in this cabin, what are good cold weather wines?Answer: Ah! You would think red. Heartier, stronger, gives more of a “warming” feeling. And just looks more like a winter beverage. But use cold weather as a time to break out richer white wines that see some oak. Big Chardonnays would be a perfect example.

(And here’s one to try from Napa Valley with present, but balanced, oak. Add it to your cold weather wines pile.)
