Great White Burgundy, Great Producer
Like the Pouilly-Fume, it’s great to drink different wines made from the same grape, same producer, same region, but different vineyards. 2002 Lafon Macon-Milly-Lamartine “Clos du Four” I have had the 2001 Lafon Macon-Milly-Lamartine, and it is one of the best white burgundies you will try for under 20 bucks. The Macon is a lesser [More]
I Wrote Down the Name of that Pouilly-Fume!!!
I was going through my pockets and forgot that we had the bartender give us pen and paper. Here it is: 2002 Cailbordin Pouilly-Fume “Les Cornets” The previous one I had was the “Les Cris”. It is amazing how two wines from the same grape, region, producer, can still be different just because they are [More]
Odds and Ends
2002 Markham Sauvignon Blanc (Napa) Hey, it wasn’t great. The oak was very subtle and it almost tasted like a Sauv Blanc should. I didn’t pay for it, so I don’t know how much it cost, but I bet you could get a French or New Zealand one for the same price or less. Last [More]

Some highlights: BOX WINE Speaking with the producer of Colombelle and seeing that the Colombelle will be available in a box (!) next year. You can keep the wine open [More]
Muscadet
Hey, I talk about the Loire a lot. But I have neglected the western-most part, right on the Atlantic. It’s Muscadet. The grape is Melon de Borgogne is or something like that, a goddamn Burgundy melon or something. But it reminds me of Chenin Blanc, very crisp, dry, and crying for seafood, especially shellfish. Some [More]
Le Wine Blog at Vinexpo!!!
On Monday I will attending a huge wine convention in Chicago at McCormick Place. 8,000 people who love wine. I will be attending an Austrian wine tasting and then a 3 hour Burgundy tasting. I am stoked to drink some great white Burgundy.
Bandol
You are in a scorching hot place, with the sun radiating off of the sea and the rocks. Fortunately, you are underneath an umbrella ocean-side in the south of France. And you are eating a bouillabaisse, full of seafood straight from the ocean, a lovely saffron broth, and a piece of toast (yea, a crouton) [More]
