TGIC not TGIF

Went to lunch with my rep from TGIC at an Indian restaurant with a bevy of Argentine and Chilean wines (and one Spanish Garnacha thrown in for the hell of it). Really enjoyed the Montes Alpha Pinot and it was good with the mildly spicy cuisine. For about twenty bucks this is a pretty impressive [More]

Cheap-n-Tasty Bordeaux

Cheap-n-Tasty Bordeaux Originally uploaded by jamesonf Yes, from the 2009 vintage! From the heavily-hyped, purportedly greatest vintage in the history of Bordeaux. Well, at least since 2005. And 2003. And 2000. (Is the snark palpable?) And it’s about 1/100th the price of the fancy-pants first growths. I have no idea what the blend is but [More]

Trader Joe’s Wine

Trader Joe’s Wine Originally uploaded by jamesonf I shop at Trader Joe’s frequently for all the stuff a single guy pushing 40 needs. Every now and then a wine there catches my attention. A Hunter Valley Semillon for 6 bucks? Done and done. This was an excellent wine that reminded me how underrated Aussie whites [More]
